2022 Vintage Wine Notes:

Chardonnay

All chardonnay is Estate grown in the Russian River Valley using sustainable farming practices.  The chardonnays are aged 10 months in French oak (a combination of Francois Freres and Sequin Moreau which are sourced from 3 different forests) with between 20-28% new and the remainder in 1, 2, and 3 year old barrels.  The barrels are stirred weekly for 1-2 months.

Vinification:  The chardonnay, whole clusters along with de-stemmed grapes, are cold pressed for 3 hours; decanted in tank for 24 hours to settle heavy solids, then transferred to barrel for fermentation and aging. Batonnage or stirring of the lees is performed weekly until all fermentations are complete.

Meadows Chardonnay: From our lowest elevation on the vineyard. Produced from 100% Hanzell clone.

North Slope Chardonnay:  From a field blend of Dijon clones 95 and 76

Cuvee Alyce Chardonnay: From 100% Wente clone. Located in the middle of our vineyard.

Pinot Noir

Vinification:  All pinot noir is stainless steel fermented after a 5-7 day cold soak with punchdowns 3 times daily. Whole clusters are employed in only a few tanks at 5%. Barrels are 60% new Francois Freres and the remainder 1 year old. The wine is aged in barrel for 12 months and settled in tank for 2 months.

North Slope Pinot Noir: 100% clone 115 from the block furthest north with a south to north facing slope.

Cahill Lane Pinot Noir: A blend of 3 separate acres surrounding the Hansel home. It consists of one acre of Rochioli Pommard clone, one acre of clone 115 and one acre of clone 114.
